Beyond the Web (2005)

While beginning to compose Beyond the Web for guitar and violoncello I tried consciously to avoid an image of a lonely gentle guitarist yearning on the stage. Instead of that I was seeking an instrument which could be an energetic, accurate and cooperative partner for violoncello. My motto was — be strict — which I was repeating until the last bars. I started to work with thematic structures which are never actually appearing in such but they are ornamented and modified in different ways during the piece, like adapted for both instruments. Masking or fading of these thematic structures could be compared to a web, a spiderweb which is shining in a morning dew and hides behind many details.
